About Us

Your Horse’s Comfort and Care is Our Mission

At River Ranch, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for your horses, a commitment rooted deeply in our family’s rich history with these magnificent animals. Tammy, having grown up surrounded by esteemed horsemen and horsewomen—her parents Ray and Marge Freeland—was introduced to horses before she could even walk. This early exposure ignited a lifelong passion for horse care, training, and management that has influenced her life and the lives of many generations to come.
Tammy and Ron have blended their extensive knowledge with insights from close family friends to create a unique approach to horse care that produces extraordinary horses across various disciplines. Tammy’s journey in the equine world began as a young competitor in gymkhanas, AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) shows, and Junior Rodeos, eventually leading her to High School and college rodeos. Her talent earned her a rodeo scholarship to Arkansas State University, but after the tragic loss of her main barrel horse, she shifted her focus and continued competing with sponsorships across the Southwest. Tammy has competed in professional rodeos, including WPRA, GCPRA, and the Turquoise Circuit Pro Rodeo, winning multiple state and regional championships.
Tammy’s training under the guidance of renowned trainers like John Hoyt, Jim Paul, and Jimmy Paul has been instrumental in her success, culminating in a Junior Reining Championship in AQHA and qualification for the National AQHA Reining Championship. Today, she continues to actively participate in local and regional barrel races, jackpots, and rodeos, recently securing the 2D Championship at the All In Barrel Race in Las Vegas.
Beyond her accomplishments as a competitor, Tammy is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), and a skilled barrel racer, trainer, and businesswoman. Ron, the visionary behind River Ranch, has used his expertise in construction to transform a once barren land into the state-of-the art facility that stands today. Together, Ron and Tammy have also pioneered a nationwide wheelchair accessible van rental company, which has been thriving for over 38 years.

What Our
Customer’s Say

River Ranch has a beautiful arena and has been incredibly welcoming and accommodating to me and my horses’ needs. The stalls are huge and the breeze that comes through keeps my horse nice and cool in the summer months. I love the automatic waterers and misters.

    Amber

I love River Ranch. They have done so much to that place in such a short time. Ron is incredible and can fix anything. They both are amazing people, and I love to go there and ride my horse.

      Jamie

Oh my gosh, Tammy fixed my horse. Peaches, my horse, was pulling me all over the place and she had no manners. Now I can halter her and walk her around without her trampling me. I’m just learning about horses, and Tammy has provided me with so much information. I can’t wait until I feel confident enough to ride.

        Lily

I love horses and I don’t have one yet. Ms. Tammy has let me ride on one of her horses and I’m just starting to learn how to ride and learn about leads. It’s so much fun to lope. Horses are cool and Ms. Tammy makes it even more fun.
